Do you have Sleep Apnea?

Snoring and sleep apnea

Some consider snoring to be amusing. At RTS, we view snoring as a serious symptom of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). In fact, one in four people who snore loudly and consistently may have OSA. Sleep apnea is a disorder characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. Each episode is called an apnea and lasts long enough so that one or more breaths are missed. Breathing stops due to collapsing of the airway which is caused by having a large tongue, extra tissue in the airway, or decreased muscle tone holding the airway open. As a result, air is prevented from passing into the lungs. When healthy sleep is interrupted in this way, the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and other serious health conditions may increase.

Maybe it is time for a sleep analysis from the professionals at RTS. It is the only way to determine if you have sleep apnea.
